Reading about how AI and TikTok bots were behind the UK street violence this week, I found this, the Surrey Institute for People-Centred Artificial Intelligence (PAI). Their self-description:
“Our pan-university institute brings together Surrey’s core AI-related expertise in vision, speech and signal processing, computer science, and mathematics, with its domain expertise across engineering and physical sciences, human and animal health, law and regulation, business, finance and the social sciences.”
I can see the point of it, aside from just the interest in more useful cultural utility for AI, and I’ll be interested to see how readily their positive ideas are taken up. If you fancy a fully-funded PhD, they are offering this starting October2024.
“UKRI Centre for Doctoral Training in AI for Digital Media Inclusion
Creative AI – Putting people at the heart of inclusive media
Creating Intelligent Media Services for All through a challenge-led PhD research training programme co-designed with stakeholders and industry to shape real-world digital media inclusion.
Fully funded scholarships available – October 2024 start”
